Hudson VAlley Farm Wedding - Blooming Hill Farm
DONUTS. GOATS. BRUNCH.
Lucia + Ray got married in early Fall at the lovely Blooming Hill Farm, a stunning Hudson Valley Farm Wedding Venue.
They had their ceremony under a huge old tree draped in white gauze, and surrounded by overgrown fields. They chose Blooming Hill Farms because of the amazing farm to table organic food and the huge ceremony tree and they just fell in love with it. I love shooting weddings at Blooming Hill Farms because the grounds are absolutely stunning and the light is so pretty. The Hudson Valley farm wedding venue works closely with you in creating a seasonal menu based around what they have available on the farm during the time of year of your wedding. It's amazing how fresh and gorgeous all of the dishes were. They were served family style so that all the guest were dining at the same time, no waiting in buffet lines or for your table to be called. It was so intimate and well thought out.
This was a brunch wedding on the farm and that meant that we started really early in the morning! Early morning light is so soft and beautiful, the energy on a wedding day is totally different at 7am than it is at 2pm. That also meant that I was doing Bride portraits just before noon which allowed me to create some soft light and airy portraits for Lucia outside of their Air BnB before we headed off to the ceremony.
Some photographers get scared at the thought of making portraits in the bright, noon day sun. It's high overhead and super harsh. It can be a tough light to work with if you don't practice. So when this couple told me that they were having a brunch wedding at the end of the summer, when they days are really long, I didn't even hesitate. I knew that with their trust and an amazing venue like theirs, we would be just fine.
NY Farm Wedding Venue
I love the little nooks and crannies at Blooming Hill Farm. From the greenhouses to the freshly started plants, the garlic hanging from the rafters in the barn, the little bridges that connect one field to the next, every corner is greeted with a surprise treasure. They also have an amazing pizza oven in the new building they use for cocktail hour. It smelled heavenly. They bring in so many farm to table elements to make a truly local wedding reception experience.
The Outdoor Ceremony
Lucia and Raymond's ceremony was underneath a huge old tree that sat in the middle of a large, overgrown field. There paths mowed to and from little nested areas including the outdoor ceremony location. Buds of Brooklyn did an amazing job as usual, draping a long piece of white gauze over two of the large branches to make a swaying altar. Their table decor was stunning and totally authentic to the bride and groom's taste and style. The gauze table runners were greeted with rose colored mercury glass bottles, antique glass bottles, blush roses, white ranunculus, plenty of greenery and stems, eucalyptus and rosemary.
I absolutely loved photographing this Hudson Valley farm to table wedding at Blooming Hill Farms. Lucia + Ray, thank you so much for choosing me to document your amazing wedding. A big thank you to Hallie Sigwing for shooting this one with me. I have no doubt that I will be back at this gorgeous farm wedding venue in the near future, if not for one of their local dinners they host, certainly for another wedding. Lucia + Ray, you both are amazing and I can't wait to see what your future holds!
