BRITT AND DOUG

AUDREY’S FARMHOUSE NY: WEDDING at the GREENHOUSE’S in the Spring

AUDREY’S FARMHOUSE WEDDING

A Romantic Setting for a Rainy Day at Audrey’s Farmhouse Wedding:

Britt and Doug’s wedding at Audrey's Farmhouse Wallkill, NY was a day filled with love, laughter, and the romantic beauty of a cloudy spring day. The venue, nestled in the gorgeous Hudson Valley, provided a classic backdrop that perfectly complemented the couple's down-to-earth personalities. It was so nice to see them again after our Connection Session in Woodstock the previous year.

Morning Prep was calm and joyful...

The day began with the couple getting ready in separate areas of Audrey's Farmhouse NY. The atmosphere was calm but filled with anticipation. Surrounded by close friends and family, both Britt and Doug prepared for one of the most significant days of their lives. There were moments of laughter, reflective silence, and a sense of deep connection as everyone present helped in their own way. They included their rescue dog Rey and I immediately fell in love with her.

If you're thinking of using a wedding planner for your wedding, I always say yes!! Corrine from Canvas Weddings is always so amazing to work with-she gets the job done!

The first wedding I ever shot was an Audrey’s Farmhouse wedding before the greenhouses even existed. That many years ago, the old shells of what once was, were all that existed. I was always drawn to them though.. their potential. It’s so amazing to see what Doug and Sally have turned the property into- an Audrey’s Farmhouse wedding at the Greenhouse’s is an event your friends and family won’t soon forget!

Yes, those are individually placed pearls in her hair done by Katie at Kindred Beauty Co.. Aren't they incredible?! I highly recommend Katie and Alana and their team at Kindred. After working with them for many years, I still recommend them every time. So talented!

First Look at Audrey’s Farmhouse Wedding

This first look was set in front of the black and white farmhouse. Doug waited anxiously to see Britt for the first time. I purposely placed his black suit on the white side of the house and her white dress on the black side- I love the feeling of togetherness it brings within the contrast. When he turned around to see her, the emotion was palpable. The couple shared a quiet, intimate moment, taking in each other and the significance of the day ahead. You may also peep their friends taking pictures in the windows.

Friends and Family Photos:

It is always my goal to keep Wedding Party and Family Photos efficient, well thought out AHEAD of time, and light and fun. This should NOT be the most stressful part of the day. I never ever use the words "fake" or "pretend" and all the chaos and emotion you see are real! Always. I find that all of my Audrey's Farmhouse wedding couples really suit my vibe and style- I adore all of them!

Britt and Doug have both lost their Father’s and so it was important to me to make sure that their Mom’s had ample quality time during Family Photos. I don’t call these Family Formals for many reasons. The main reason is because they shouldn’t be stiff or overly posed. They shouldn’t be something you dread on your wedding day. This is the start of your families library. It’s important.

Portraits in the Greenhouses at Audrey’s Farmhouse

The Indoor Ceremony at Audrey’s Greenhouse Wedding

Intimate, Heartfelt and funny AF

The ceremony itself was a true reflection of Britt and Doug’s relationship: sincere, heartfelt, and also funny AF. The greenhouse at Audrey’s, adorned with simple yet elegant floral arrangements by Lulo Floral, created an intimate atmosphere that brought everyone closer together. The arch of baby’s breath as the ceremony altar was absolutely stunning and such a cool design choice by Britt. As they exchanged vows, there was a sense of unity among the guests, a shared joy in witnessing the love and commitment being celebrated.

I think the best part was their 4 year old nephew bringing up the rings in a locked metal briefcase and a huge smile on his face! He was so proud to have such a special job.

Audrey's Farmhouse Wedding Portraits:

Capturing the Energy right after the "I Do's"

The emotion after the ceremony was so palpable. There were moments when I had to trust my focus because I was tearing up at all the love. These are the moments that I love standing back and documenting for my couples because they end up being such a blur of a distant memory by the end of the night.

Dusk Wedding Portraits at Audrey’s Farmhouse NY

Post-ceremony, we took some time for portraits. It wasn't raining at that moment and the architectural setting of the old hoop houses provided a stunning frame with incredible leading lines (which is tech talk for one of my favorite compositions). Britt and Doug were a dream to photograph - their ease with each other and natural chemistry shone through in every shot. We captured moments of laughter, tender embraces, and the quiet, contented smiles of two people who had just embarked on a lifelong journey together. And then the rain started to drizzle so we headed back in to the Audrey’s Greenhouses and the warmth of all their guests.

Dance Party in the Modern Barn

As the evening set in, the reception began in the rustic, elegantly decorated barn. Britt had a vision of hanging gold disco balls from the ceiling and it was absolutely ON point perfect. There were tree branches and dyed baby's breath to add texture and it fit beautifully with Audrey's Farmhouse wedding vibe. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, with string lights casting a warm glow over the wooden tables set with simple, nature-inspired centerpieces. The air was filled with the sound of lively conversations, clinking glasses, and the soft rustle of the trees outside.

Dinner and Toasts at Audrey’s Farmhouse Wedding

Family Style Dinner in the Greenhouse

Dinner was a hearty, farm-to-table feast that reflected the couple’s love for good food and company. The toasts were perhaps some of the most memorable moments of the night. I always love when both Parents and Friends speak about the couple. You learn so much about what makes them tick and who they are individually and together through shared stories and memories, some evoking laughter and others tears, painting a picture of a couple deeply loved and respected by their community.

Reception in the Barn at Audrey’s Farmhouse

As the band started playing, the floor quickly filled with guests eager to celebrate. Britt and Doug were right in the middle of it all, dancing with a joy and abandon that was infectious. The energy in the room was electric, with guests of all ages joining in the fun. I love to create images that show you what it FELT like to be in the room, with my camera getting drunk along with the guest. Playing with light never ends for me and it's so much fun to use the ambiance of your space in a creative way.

A Special Performance at Audrey's Farmhouse Wedding Reception

The highlight of the reception was when Doug's Phish Cover Band took the stage for a surprise performance. An avid musician, he surprised everyone with his skill and passion. It was a testament to the couple’s personality – fun, spontaneous, and full of surprises. Then the wedding band returned to the stage and ripped through a Rolling Stones cover with Doug in the lead. It was incredible to watch and dance to!

The band for the night was The Metropolitan Players and they were incredible. Not your typical wedding band and the song selection was amazing. Everyon was on the dance floor all night long.

The Magic of the Night

As the night drew to a close, I snuck outside with Britt and Doug to take a breath, feel the light drizzle and play under the streetlight. Under the indigo blue sky, with only the soft sound of the rain on the pavement, Britt and Doug shared a final dance, a moment of quiet connection amidst the remnants of the day’s celebrations. My couples always tell me later that sneaking out for a breath was one of their favorite times of the day. Encouraging you do do a night shot with me is not only for the image, it's for you. And it's so worth it!

Audrey's Farmhouse weddings at the Greenhouses never disappoint. It just goes to show that no matter what the weather, if you make the best of it, it end up being THE BEST!
