FULL MOON RESORT NY WEDDING: Romantic Peaky Blinders meets Stevie Nicks vibes

FULL MOON BIG INDIAN

Autumn Vibes at Full Moon Resort Big Indian NY

I can’t decide which season I like the most for weddings at Full Moon Resort Big Indian NY. The Catskill Mountains speak to me no matter what the weather is doing. Maybe the bond is because I went to sleep-away camp a few miles down the road? Or that the Neversink River has magical youthful minerals and every time I’m near it, (or in it) I feel many years younger? Or it could just be that the most amazing couple’s choose Full Moon Resort as their NY destination wedding venue? Whatever it is, count me in for all of it.

Full Moon Resort NY is a full service destination wedding venue in the Catskills of New York, rustic yet sophisticated, and just a few hours from NYC. It has a touch of Woodstock charm with meadows and forest, and a river runs through it!

Each season paints the resort in a unique palette – the lush greens of summer, the fiery hues of fall, the serene whites of winter, and the fresh blossoms of spring. It's like this weekend destination wedding venue wears different outfits, and honestly, I can't decide which one I love more! Take a look at these Full Moon Resort photos and tell me that Fall isn’t in your favorite too!

Jackie and Nick’s November Full Moon Resort Wedding

Jackie and Nick choose early November for their romantic Upstate NY wedding and it was a perfect Fall day. Chilly enough for a jacket but not so cold that you couldn’t take it off. Jackie’s sister and Maid of Honor was so on top of everything all day. From putting out the escort cards in alphabetical order (which is hard ya’ll), to making sure that everyone was on time for pictures, she was so helpful all day! When you have a Full Moon wedding, you want the best people on your team so you can chill most of the day.

This autumn wedding was like a scene from a romantic movie – leaves crunching underfoot, the crisp air filled with excitement, and the warmth of love that makes you forget the slight chill. Jackie's sister, a real-life superhero, was the unsung hero of the day, juggling tasks with the grace of a seasoned event planner. The second wedding I EVER shot, over 10 years ago, was at Full Moon Resort wedding venue and I have seen it go through so many amazing changes over the years. I have a real bond with the property.

Jackie’s Dress gives Stevie Nicks Vibe

The moment Jackie put on her dress from Lovely Bride, the Stevie Nicks vibe was strong! Her draped sleeves were removable and she had simple shoulder pieces for the reception. Which is so smart because you don’t want to be pulling up your dress all night while you’re dancing!

Jackie's transformation was magical. The dress, a perfect blend of elegance and bohemian spirit, mirrored the romantic surroundings of the Catskills for this Full Moon wedding. It's these little details that transform a beautiful bride into a timeless icon, reminiscent of the legendary Stevie Nicks.

First Look on the River at Full Moon Resort

Late Autumn in the Catskills

Jackie + Nick saw each other for the first time on the banks of the Neversink River. I think all of us cried when Nick did and that’s just how I roll anyway so no surprises there. We had some extra time to spend with their friends + family making portraits before the ceremony and enjoying just being together. When I help my couple’s make their timelines, I always add in extra time to just shoot the shit. To just be… and not to always be hustling. It makes for a much more stress-free day where you can just settle in and relax.

This first look was a heart-melting moment, the kind that makes everyone reach for their tissues. The river at this Big Indian Resort provided a serene backdrop, its gentle flow adding to the tenderness of the moment. These extra moments are precious, a chance to breathe and be present, soaking in the joy and love that surrounds us.

Stress Free Family + Friend Photos at Full Moon Catskills Wedding

Casual and Connected Family Photos

I love making images of my couple’s with their families. There are so many amazing personalities and dynamics and it’s just the best. I approach family pictures in a casual, yet put together way. Allowing space for you mom to have her moment, for you father to try not to cry, and for your siblings to remind you of that pose ya’ll did on the beach every summer and try to recreate it. And I’m here for it!

Capturing the essence of a family is like bottling sunshine – warm, bright, and full of energy. These family pictures are not just photos; they will become the pages of your family’s story, slices of life that tell the story of bonds and belonging. Whether it's a laugh, a tear, or that classic embrace of a parent, every click adds to the narrative of your special day. Full Moon Resort NY has so many incredible places to make pictures and I always try to find a spot that is hidden from your guests so that you can just enjoy your friends and family and not stress about people coming to say hello before the ceremony.

Unposed Wedding Party Pictures with your closest friends

Peaky Blinders Groomsmen

Nick and his friends are into the show Peaky Blinders and so they custom era suits made by Suit Supply and donned hats as a nod to the secret gangster inside of them. Who would have thought we could have Peaky Blinders Groomsmen? I absolutely love small personal details like this- making your choices mean something. It doesn’t matter to me how large your wedding parties are- we. will. have. fun. And in like 15 minutes, not two hours! Your wedding parties are usually made up of your favorite friends and family and I want to honor that! I never use words like pretend or fake and I never ask your friends to do cheesy stuff just for a laugh. Instead, we just have fun and talk like real people and real friends!! It’s painless and dare I say, fun!

This Peaky Blinders wedding theme brought a dash of playful nostalgia and a whole lot of style. It's these personal touches that transform a standard group shot into a moment that's uniquely yours. It's not just about looking good in a photo; it's about capturing the essence of your relationships, the laughter, the shared glances, and the inside jokes. Full Moon Resort weddings just attract the most fantastic people and I feel so fortunate every time I work there.

Full Moon Resort Wedding Ceremony:

Under the Tent and Outside on the River

For their wedding ceremony, couples at Full Moon Resort weddings usually get married in the Lower Grove but when it’s this cold out, you may opt to put your guests under the tent with heaters and blankets! We had a talk about light and we decided to open the wall up so that they could stand outside, on the river, in the last of the daylight. They really wanted an outdoor ceremony and it was so worth it! To hear the sounds of the water, see golden brown leaves falling, their dog settling down at their feet… you choose Full Moon Big Indian for the property so I was elated that they stood outside.

This setup was the perfect compromise between the cozy warmth of an indoor setting and the natural beauty of an outdoor ceremony. It's like having the best of both worlds – nestled in a cozy tent, yet still connected to the enchanting outdoors. The sound of the river, the rustle of leaves, and the soft glow of the setting sun created an atmosphere that was both intimate and grand.

Full Moon Wedding Photos - Last Light

Romantic Catskills Wedding Photos

I love the energy that lives in the moments right after you say “I Do”. The sun has dropped in the sky and turned deeper shades of gold, your guest are all heading to the bar at cocktail hour, and we walk the long way, stopping to enjoy some alone time and making sweet, romantic images. When Jackie and Nick walked out of their ceremony, we had the last bit of Fall light left to dance in. We took advantage of every second of it and I’m so so glad we did. Being that I have been a Full Moon Resort wedding photographer for many years, I also know that we lose the sun much earlier there and we made sure to plan their ceremony with enough time for some light afterwards.

These moments are fleeting and oh so precious. The world seems to stand still, yet everything is buzzing with excitement. Capturing these just-married portraits is like freezing time, allowing you to relive the rush of emotions, the overwhelming joy, and the quiet intimacy of these first few minutes as a married couple.

Raging Reception in the Wedding Pavilion at Full Moon Resort

Pavilion Dinner and Dance Party

I expected nothing less than a killer dance party from this crew and that is exactly what went down! James Mulry, who is one of my favorite DJ’s, had the dance floor packed all night long. Until it was time to step outside for a night portrait. There are such big open skies in the Catskills and it’s the perfect place to make some night photos. Their after party was up at the Roadhouse and they had a Led Zeppelin cover band to keep the party going! I may have stayed and danced to a song or two….

The energy of a good dance floor is infectious. You can't help but get pulled into the rhythm, the laughter, the twirls and dips. Stepping out under the starry sky for a night portrait, the cool air a sharp contrast to the warmth of the dance floor, creates a magical moment, a serene pause in the whirlwind of celebration.

Night Wedding Photos under the star filled sky at Full Moon Resort

Big Indian Resort is the perfect place for great night photos

A majority of my clients ask me if we can make a night shot during their wedding. I really always try to find one- somewhere, somehow. Sometimes we can get the starry sky, sometimes we use a streetlamp or headlights. But I really try to at least experiment and see what happens! Jackie and Nick were ready to get some fresh air and head out into the dark night to make some magic. Having this kind of trust is so paramount to me being able to explore my creativity and push my brain into thinking about light in a different way. Lucky for me, sometimes it all works out!

Night photography is like a dance with light and shadows. It's about playing with the contrasts, the unexpected glimmers, and the romance of the darkness. Whether it's under a canopy of stars, the soft glow of a lantern, or the dramatic beam of headlights, these shots always carry a sense of mystery and enchantment. What I love about Full Moon weddings is that there is no light pollution so we can walk out into the field and capture SO many stars!

Final Thoughts on Jackie + Nick’s Full Moon Resort Wedding:

This wedding wasn't just a job for me; it was a deeply memorable experience. Witnessing the joy and love shared not only by Jackie and Nick but also by their families and friends, reminded me why I am so passionate about wedding photography. The fact that two guests, utterly captivated by the magic and emotion of the day, decided to book me for their own weddings on the spot was incredibly flattering and a testament to the connection and trust I strive to build with each couple and their loved ones.

There's a unique story behind every wedding, and Jackie and Nick's was no exception. Their day was a beautiful tapestry of moments - from the tender first look by the Neversink River, echoing with a sense of enchantment, to the lively dance party under the starlit sky of the Catskills, each moment was a piece of art in its own right. The joyous energy, the laughter, the tears of happiness, and the warmth of shared stories created an atmosphere that was both electrifying and profoundly touching.

As the night drew to a close, and the last song echoed in the Roadhouse, I couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment. In capturing these moments, I knew I was freezing a piece of time for Jackie and Nick - moments they would look back on and cherish for a lifetime. The trust they placed in me to document their day, to capture the essence of their love and the spirit of their celebration, was an honor that I hold in the highest regard.

Leaving the Full Moon Resort that night, I carried with me not just the images I had captured but also the memories of a day filled with love, laughter, and the kind of happiness that echoes long after the moment has passed. Jackie and Nick's wedding was more than just a series of photographs; it was a vivid reminder of the beauty and joy that life offers.

As I look forward to my next adventure, I am grateful for the experiences that each wedding brings into my life. It's not just about the photographs; it's about the stories, the people, and the unforgettable moments that make every wedding unique. And for me, that's what it's all about.
