Paige and Josh are a rare breed. They were married on October 15 with their ceremony and reception at Oak Hill in Hudson, NY. We try our best to meet our couples before their wedding day, but we didn’t get the chance to meet Paige and Josh until the day of their big event. Sometimes, it takes a while for couples to warm up to us. Not Paige and Josh! These two invited us in with open arms, and were so lovely and welcoming that it was a true pleasure to be a part of their day.
Paige and Josh both got ready in the same rented house outside of Hudson. Since Dave and I also got married in Hudson, I am quite fond of the area. They had large wedding parties who all spent the weekend with them. It was easy to see their friendships had been going strong since childhood.
The bridesmaids put together this amazing album for Paige. Its pages were filled with letters from each bridesmaid and her mom, Polaroid pictures and fun memories. A lot of time love went into it and the result was so beautiful. Paige got each of her bridesmaids a necklace with the latitude and longitude of where she met each of them. It was such a unique way to document those friendships. I loved the way Paige’s girls took care of her. It was clear they all adored each other. You can see how much they love her in all of their pictures.
Paige decided to do a first look with her father. They met on the front porch of the house and it was extremely touching. There were tears! Her sisters and the rest of the ladies were all swept up in the moment. It was very emotional. Paige’s dress from Rue De Seine Bridal in New Zealand was STUNNING. The way the fabric moved and flowed around her was so ethereal. The way the light played in the skirt was simply magical.
Paige and Josh had their ceremony on the hill overlooking the Hudson River. The autumn light was warm and golden and made for such a spectacular setting. The view of the valley in all its fall splendor was just gorgeous. After they said their “I dos” we headed out for their bride and groom portraits.
Some of my favorite shots all year happened at this wedding. Paige stressed to me that she wanted us to just do our thing. It's always so nice when couples just give us full trust AND cooperation. No matter how awkward, shy or uncomfortable couples think they are- when they trust us, we can make magic happen. Paige and Josh were so happy and so in love that the magic was easy to capture.
After the portraits, we adjourned to the barn for the reception. This group certainly knew how to use the dance floor! Not only were the guest wonderful, but the vendors Paige and Josh chose were all exceptional. Mike from Simply Gourmet in Poughkeepsie is such a good guy and so super professional. Liana who is the caretaker at Oak Hill is such a gem as well. They made the night really great!
We had such a great time getting to know Paige and Josh. It was so extraordinary to meet as strangers and leave as friends. They trusted us and leaned into the process. The result was striking images and a real connection. I was genuinely sad when we left. I wish you two the best in your new lives together!
