Ben and Lindsey were married on October 1, 2016 with their ceremony and reception at Red Maple Vineyard. The day dawned cool and rainy. I met the girls at the hotel for hair and makeup before we headed out to the venue to get her dressed. Lindsey and her entire wedding party wore matching Converse Chucks - so cool.
There is this room upstairs at the venue that has just the most amazing stained glass windows stretched across the back wall. I had Lindsey get ready in front of those windows so we could capture her beautiful dress up against those stunning colors. Once she was ready, we did a first look with her dad. It was super emotional. They have a really tight bond that's totally visible in the way they look at each other. There is something so special about a father-daughter first look... witnessing that moment when a Father sees his little girl all grown up is so touching. I may or may not have cried too.
We walked to the stone ruins on the East side of the venue for Lindsey and Ben's First Look. Their sense of humor and their sweet side were both present in equal measure. Next, we wandered up the street, which was easy since Lindsey was wearing her chucks! After taking some killer shots in the road, we happened upon a beautiful dark horse with a fairy tale mane. He came right up to congratulate them and let us take a few pictures of him before he took off.
Pre-Ceremony everyone was really concerned about the threat of rain but Gary at Red Maple is such a good guy. He has a radar weather app so that he can see the actual path of rain to know exactly when/if it's going to hit so couples can make an educated, last minute decision about having their ceremony indoors or outdoors. The outdoor ceremony location at Red Maple is up on a very tall hillside overlooking the venue and vineyard with stunning views as far as the eyes can see. But we knew it would likely rain during their ceremony so Ben and Lindsey chose to have it in the rainy day backup spot which totally doesn't suck. It is so lovely with greenery everywhere and the team from Dark + Diamond Floral Design made it really romantic. The end result was gorgeous.
Lindsey read her vows first. They were super heartfelt and beautiful. And then Ben started his vows. He began to speak, got a few lines in, and then said something like, "I've spent the past 6 months learning how to play guitar and I wrote you a song to... hahahahaahahaaaa just kidding!"
The room erupted in laughter. And we captured an amazing shot of Lindsey as he's saying it and also one with her laughter afterwards. Moments like this at a wedding are simply unforgettable!
The reception and party were awesome, especially with this cool crowd. Red Maple Vineyard knows how to throw a good party with perfect flow. Their exclusive caterer, Corner Stone, makes amazing food and has been around for over 25 years. Red Maple Vineyard has a huge victory garden and they grow a majority of the produce, herbs, and fruits on the property. They also have chickens for eggs and pig they feed all the wedding scraps to. It's a really special place and they did such an amazing job.
Lindsey and Ben have the best sense of humor. No, not just these two... these ten. Ben, Lindsey and their families are some of the funniest people I've met in a long time. Not even jokes-funny, just the way they were with each other- it was fantastic. The humor and fun was a thread that carried all throughout the day.
Thank you, Lindsey and Ben for choosing us to capture your special day. We had so much fun with you at your wedding and we hope that your marriage is filled with laughter and love.
