New Paltz Engagement Photographer | T + M are getting married

Our clients often ask us about the amazing locations we use for our engagement sessions. They ponder about what park or historic place they should choose, feeling like a they need structures or gazebos or big grand backgrounds. And wall those types of locations all have their time and place for us sometimes the most simplest of locations fairs best. This particular spot was next to a parking lot on a little grass hill with the most perfect tree branch dipping down into the light. Sometimes it's really that simple.

Like most couples Tiffany and John were very nervous about their session stating that they're not used to being in front of the camera together. We know that part of our job is allowing our couples to just be with each other without us heavily posing them or micromanaging every little thing. Just allowing them to be in love makes for real and true moments.

As we started walking Sam spied this large area of purple and white wildflowers which made for an amazing and romantic backdrop.

Photography is all about light. And the more we dance and play with the light the more we are addicted to it. This day did not disappoint!

Tiffany and John are so good to each other, always making sure that each felt comfortable.

We have a saying here in New Paltz that once you've done something romantic along the Wallkill River you will always come back here. I think it's safe to say that Tiffany and John will be back.

The Hudson Valley is home to many vineyards and farms and apple orchards, all lending beautiful backdrops for engagement sessions.

This is another side of the road spot that most people would probably overlook as they're driving by but we see it as a golden opportunity to make a beautiful portrait.

These are the kind of images that I think about at the beginning of the session when the couple tells us that they feel awkward in front of the camera. And we assure them that after 10 minutes or so they'll forget all about that nervousness. I love it when we're right.

How beautiful are these two? I love the soft details of her dress, the way her hair is gently flowing in the breeze, his strong, safe embrace. Real love is beautiful.

Our Engagement Sessions, or Connection Session as we like to call it, are a chance for the four of us to get to know each other a little better before we arrive on the wedding day. It's the perfect opportunity to break the ice, to learn our camera language, for us to learn your love language, and for you to walk away with some killer images.

Our clients come to us saying how much they love the natural moments that we achieve with our couples. They tell us they don't want to be posed. And we totally get that. So what we offer is gentle guidance, little suggestions to steer you towards the image we want to make for you. Allowing the naturalness of the two of you to shine through.

Nature is so amazing. Even though every February finds us threatening to move to California, by the time June rolls around we couldn't imagine living anywhere but the Hudson Valley.

I love this shot that Dave took. We pulled over so that Tiffany and John could change into a new outfit and when we looked around we fell in love with all of the darkness that was provided by the canopy of trees above our heads.

And the beauty of having two photographers is that sometimes you get two different views of the same moment.

I love everything about this picture. Seriously, everything.

We have a term in photography that we use when we want people to know how pure and epic the moment that we captured is. We say, this image is SOOC, which means Straight Out Of the Camera. It's kind of like saying #nofilter. Because sometimes when the light is as epic as it is in this image, we want everyone to know that it is S0OC, pure and unedited.

These last few minutes of light were so soft and romantic, warm and beautiful.
