Catskills NY Wedding - Tattoos + Skateboards. Waterfall. Vintage wedding dress.
Heather and Cory held their Catskills wedding at the beautiful Shinglekill Falls Bed and Breakfast and had run of the entire property including the BnB next door, Tumblin Falls House. When a wedding ends with the Bride + Groom jumping into the swimming hole, fully dressed, you know it's been an epic day.
Heather is a tattoo artist and her down to earth style was apparent in all the details of the day. The sound of a singing bowl and the smell of incense was the perfect start to their non-traditional ceremony, held at Shinglekill Falls in front of the beautiful old farmhouse. Lead by the couple's close friend, an Episcopalian Priest, it was intimate and a perfect blend of it's Pagan + Buddhist themes. The altar table was covered in amethyst and crystals, quartz points and charms. It was purposeful and personal; it was so beautiful. (And I totally wasn't crying)
As I was walking around the property at Shinglekill Falls, I noticed the side yard had this amazing, soft, beautiful light. I knew instantly that it would be perfect. Heather's trust in me to immediately say yes when I asked her if she would get dressed outside is exactly what fuels my creativity. I stress the word trust to my new clients. When they truly give themselves over to my process, the outcome can be nothing short of magical. Her vintage dress suited her style perfectly down to the last detail of the tulle sash. I find that Catskill Weddings generally attract the most down to earth, magical couples. Being a Catskill Wedding Photographer is truly a dream.
Heather wore a Vintage Dress that she found at Conchetta's Closet Vintage Shop for the outdoor ceremony. Then she changed into a BHLDN beaded dress for the tented reception. The way the tulle on the BHLDN dress twirled and caught light was nothing short of magical. The light blush color was the perfect tone to stand off the dark, lush green background of the forest.
The venue, Shinglekills Falls, was magical. The guests were filled with personality and style. The personal, DIY touches were totally on point. And they went night swimming in their wedding clothes. I want to shoot this Catskills Wedding every weekend! Big thanks to my husband, Dave, for shooting this one with me.
