Apple Greens Golf Club Wedding - Pine and Jeff
Pine and Jeff were married on May 7, 2016 with their ceremony and reception at Apple Greens Golf Club. Pine and Jeff are serious outdoor people. She works in the Adirondacks, taking care of nature and making sure trails and forests are well maintained. She’s one of those rare people who enjoy camping in the snow. They go heli-skiing. They don’t mind taking chances and just going for it. They’re crazy.
Pine and I have a few friends in common and that's how we connected. She really, really wanted to get married when the apple trees were in bloom so she picked a wedding date in late May, but I was already booked that weekend AND for the weekends before and after. It looked like she was going to have to find another photographer. When I blogged a wedding of a friend of hers, she absolutely fell in love with this one particular image and she realized she had to have me as her photographer. So, she took a chance and switched her wedding date to May 7.
Fast forward a year and half… We had such a mild winter that everything came out early and the apple blossoms were in their peak on May 7th and totally gone by the next weekend. If she hadn't taken a chance, she would have ended up with a photographer she didn't really want and NO blossoms. What a double victory for Pine!
Pine got ready at her house while Jeff got ready at a secret cabin on the golf course. Pine wanted to go say goodbye to her chickens before she left to go see Jeff for the first time, fully dressed in her gown and shoes. They came right up to her and followed her around the yard. It was so sweet!
Pine and Jeff had a first look underneath her apple blossoms on the course, just as she had hoped. It was like something out of a dream. After the first look, we took care of family and wedding party portraits. Since Pine’s family owns the golf course, they were able to get married on one of the actual holes on the course with the most spectacular view. Pine’s father brought one of his old classic cars and drove her down the fairway to the ceremony location. After the ceremony concluded, Jeff drove Pine away in the car. Perfect full circle.
All day the sky was insane! These dark, dark, grey and threatening clouds loomed overhead promising rain all day but it never did. In fact; right after the ceremony, while the couple was signing the marriage license and about to take their bride and groom pictures, the sun snuck out from behind the clouds for about five minutes. It was MAGICAL! We totally seized the opportunity and ran Pine and Jeff to a little waterfall on the course. The sunlight made the water sparkle even though the clouds were still so intense. It was beautiful. After we finished, we headed to cocktail hour in the barn and right into the reception. It was a wonderful party and everyone really cut loose on the dance floor.
You never know what's going to happen on a wedding day. When I show up, I literally have to arrive with no expectations. Because while I know that two people are going to get dressed, get married and then have some sort of gathering, I have no idea HOW it is going to happen. And every wedding is different. Every couple is different. Pine and Jeff are a true testament to that. It threatened rain all morning and all day. The sky was totally black everywhere you looked.
By all means, it should have rained. But it didn't. By all means, there shouldn’t have been apple blossoms. But there were. They took the risk. They just went for it. That ceremony spot had no chance if it rained but they went for it.
And it was magnificent.
